Bargains
"You must think that I'm some kind of idiot."
She kept her eyes on her report.
"Do you really think I'm unaware of your... side excursions whenever we're on a recovery op?" If not for his years of experience he might have missed the hitch in her breathing. "Didn't you ever wonder why you were assigned these missions?"
She snorted. "Manticore's twisted sense of humor?"
He sighed. "You've kept your end of the bargain, Max. I fully intend to honor mine."
Lydecker tossed a file onto her desk. "They picked up his trail in Cheyenne. Thought you'd want to know."

Anyway, them's the lot. I had a great time writing these and I've enjoyed everyone's comments. Thanks to all the readers (yes, even you lurkers who can't seem to figure out how to use your keyboard to tell me how pretty I am and how much you love me ! *pokes tongue out and makes silly faces at you all*). Your support and interest is always appreciated.
Title: A Friend In Deed
Challenge/Prompt: From the Adopt-A-Prompt selection: October 2008 - A friend in deed
Fandom: Dark Angel
Type: 100-word drabble
Characters/Pairings: Alec (X5-494), Logan Cale (Eyes Only), Max (X5-452)
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: I dont own Dark Angel. I just play in the fandom sandbox from time to time.
Summary: He was more than a man.
Authors Note: For the Adopt-A-Prompt (May/June) 2009 Prompt Challenge on RH
A Friend In Deed
He was a champion for the underdogs, leader for the underground resistance and an icon for the people.
He was a target I nearly killed until she stopped me.
He was crippled, but strong. Even through the pain he showed determination and great strength. He went from mark to man in my eyes, in but a moment.
I didn't like or dislike him; I respected him. He was loyal, brave, intelligent and competent. He even saved my butt on occasion.
And he made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good.
We were never buddies but I proudly called him friend.
That changes now. I have a few fics that are suitable to share with all ages (or at least aren't above a PG13 and with what I believe to be decent language. I hope to add them shortly.
Hope y'all are well!
I'm going to have to fix that. As soon as they finish the house repairs and I start getting more sleep.
On a happier note, I've had more inspiration lately. My laptop follows me around like a good puppy and I've been jotting down ideas. I've also fallen in love with The Bravery and keep that on repeat.
Not much else going on just now. Few odd friends who I thought fell off the planet have resurfaced which is cool. I've missed them.
Halloween was pumpkin soup and turkey with rice :P I just don't celebrate. Nice weekend, though. *yawns*
More later - hopefully sooner than.
Ta.
Title: It
Challenge/Prompt: Prompt #6: “Spirit”
Original Fiction or Fanfiction Original Fiction
Characters/Pairings: It, Annalise, Duke Tarlington
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Disclaimer: The words belong to us all but the crafting is mine.
Summary: And one more would fall.
Author's Notes: This one kicked my butt. It refused to play nicely with others. Not my best effort. (For the
fiction_drabbles prompt #6: "Spirit") [Adapted from another original piece that has yet to come to completion.]
It shifted, weaving between minds, keenly observing, biding time until it found a suitable host and imposed its desires upon her unwilling, helpless mind, ‘Cry for him, draw him forth. Bring him to me.’
The Duke’s jaw clenched, his slate-grey eyes flashed thunderously as a shaft of alarm sliced through his thoughts. “Annalise calls to me. The rebels have breached the Keep. They shall die for their treason!”
Snatching up his sword, Tarlington stalked from the castle, abandoning the protections of his ancestors.
Like a sheep to slaughter, he walks to his doom..

Title: Dream the Day
Challenge/Prompt: Prompt #5: “Blue”
Original Fiction or Fanfiction Fan Fiction-ish: Dune
Characters/Pairings: Paul
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: I don’t own Dune. I’m not fond of sand between my toes.
Summary: One day it would change.
Author's Notes: For the
fiction_drabbles prompt #5: "Spirit". Second drabble (is there a limit on these things?) I just finished watching Dune for the 3rd time in as many months.
He missed it still; the majesty of the ocean, its inconstancy and unpredictability, the salty froth-mist, the clamor of the waves as they crashed upon each other in a race to reach the shore. He longed for the constant change of rhythm - at times undisturbed, at others chaotic - craved the push and pull of the sea that lulled him nightly to sleep.
And always, that breathtaking, glittering ultramarine that brought the entire world into focus and set his very soul alight.
One day, Paul determinedly vowed, the Fremen's eyes would not be the only brilliant blues on Arrakis.

Title: Enough
Challenge/Prompt: Prompt #5: “Blue”
Original Fiction or Fanfiction Original Fiction
Characters/Pairings: Wallace, Blue
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: The words belong to us all but the crafting is mine.
Summary: It was enough.
Author's Notes: I know I'm late with this but I only just had time to come round and post it. This was just a random scene that played in my head the other day. (For the
fiction_drabbles prompt #5 "Blue")
"Blue? C'mere, boy," Wallace called up to the open loft where the Whippet lay slumbering.
The old hound’s ear twitched but he didn’t budge. The old man smiled.
“Quit pretendin’, you. My toes are cold.”
In a flash, the dog bounded down the stairs and skidded to a halt beside his master’s slipper-clad feet. Gently, he lowered his belly over the man’s outstretched limbs and rested his head on his paws. Blue closed his eyes again and nodded off.
Wallace smiled fondly at his loyal companion. Perhaps the circumstances weren’t ideal but, with Blue by his side, it was enough.

Title: Weathered
Challenge/Prompt: “Symbol” issued on the
Original Fiction
Type: 100-word drabble
Rating: G
Note: Crossposted to my DW account
Disclaimer: The words belong to us all, the crafting is mine.
Summary: Years have passed and it no longer shines as it did when she first saw it.
Author's Notes: When I saw this prompt I immediately thought of my grandmother. She used to talk about her marriage, the hardships of the early years, the trials and joys of raising a family and the difficulties of illness later in life, but throughout it all, one thing remained constant; her love and devotion for and to my grandfather and the look of reverence and the soft smile she wore whenever she touched her wedding band.
This is for her.
Weathered
Years have passed and it no longer shines as it did when she first saw it. She smiles softly in remembrance, caressing the band that has weathered the storms of her life. It is cold to the touch but not the mind or heart. It still makes her smile whenever she sees it, touches it.
Remembers him.
It may now have small scratches, somewhat of a worn surface with a web of tiny imperfections, but the metal is strong, round and continuous and signifies the same love and devotion as it did the day he placed it on her finger.
